It often seems that if it is a Chinese kindergarten, they'll get brainwashed to death and mercilessly beaten by inexperienced local teachers for the very smallest of misdemeanors (and Chinese parents/grandparents seem to encourage it).
I've worked in kindergartens where the kids (even 3yo) get bashed by the teachers. It's tough to tolerate it - but this is China and that's what the rules are it is not easy to change. If one gets hitched in China with a Chinese who doesn't necessarily want to leave China. It'd take a lot of convincing to ask her to leave her whole family behind. I speak from experience, there is nothing wrong with bringing them up in the PRC. You can simply just self-teach them until they can go to Middle-school.
Actually, there are laws against it, but nobody seems to follow them. I know of foreign teachers that will slap kids because their parents insist on it, but I am really against it.
