Re: My Experience with Nanjing Ahead

I am going for an interview with Ahead later today. At best it seems like a mixed bag of comments here, but they're still around so they're doing something right.

They pay well, offering me 18,000 plus 2,000 for accom, before tax. I asked for more, hence the interview. Pretty sure I'd had the job before I asked.

I work in a place where they run the UNSW program, and all the teachers who work for them have done at least 2 years. Can't be all bad, surely?

Re: My Experience with Nanjing Ahead

Sorry to open an old thread, but Nanjing/ Jiangsu Ahead is worse than anyone have ever posted on this forum. All lies and more lies. Contract problems galore, and so on. I could write a book on my experience, and I probably will.

Lets see: FTs who were arrested by the local police as the Ahead FAO was incompetent.
FTs who to this day still don't have the FEC (the FAO lost it - lets just call her C[edited] to simply matters)
FTs stolen from giving money to the FAO for student events and the money disappears.
The school we were posted at was stealing the chop from a local university. Ahead's financial official has to come to the school to pay a bribe.
FTs forced to pay large amounts for utilities (thousands of RMB) for heat. None of this was mentioned in the contract.
The school would not provide a chopped contract and tax receipts to the FTs so we could send money home legally. We were told to do it illegally.
No email replies to maybe 30 requests about the new foreigner social tax. 11% is a lot of money for anyone.
The Chinese teacher would change grades we submit. It didn't help matters of the rumors that the same CT was sleeping with an officer of Ahead. Oh, that was ML[edited].
Contract start dates and contract details changed without the FTs permission or signature (PDF time stamps are wonderful things)
FT ordered to download and steal from Adobe and Microsoft in order to keep employment.

Their only response was "we have to understand the Chinese"
Lovely thing, I have archived all the e-mail exchanges I have had. Can't wait for the threatened lawsuit. What was her name? Suellen, I think it was.

I escaped there after Spring Festival. Now have a lovely designer position at a major German Car Manufacturer in Germany.

Re: My Experience with Nanjing Ahead

Turnoi,

Your first post on this thread was a set of pretty serious and malicious accusations. Your last post now states you don't know this Nanjing Ahead at all.

Wasn't this thread originally about a KIS school in Guangdong? The Ahead company running our UNSW Foundation Year program is mostly in the Jiangsu area and definitely has no connections down south.

I'm empathetic towards your desire for educational reform in China but it seems you may have inadvertently mistook the organization I work for for another. If so, let's end this conversation here and move on.
