Re Yuncheng IELTS, what's up?

I found that Yuncheng IELTS was a fair and honest school to work for as an FT. Living and working conditions were better than average. I am sorry I cannot say that the students were getting any more than a raw deal. The main reason for this was not how much the client schools were or were not financially ripping them off, but the origins of most of IELTS's workforce. That's to say that most of them were not from Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada, but from other countries, where they were equipped with barely understandable accents and a dubious grasp of English. Oddly enough a couple of the best and most knowledgeable teachers I met during my two years at IELT's didn't have a degree between them but did come from USA and UK respectively. The hotchpotch rest were all perfectly legal teachers; they were just no good. But they came cheap. Not to say they didn't get parity. I don't know about that, i never asked other FT's how much they were getting paid. i mean to say that they kept FT's wages down in that province.

Re Yuncheng IELTS, what's up?

OK, I have the news that I had promised. The company will e-mail 13 former FT employees plus 13 TAs to return for teaching on new contracts if the result of the appeal is positive. But probably most of the 13 foreign teachers mentioned above will have moved to pastures new by then. The thing to do is to check regularly for the return of the company website, and then apply.

I've just been doing some rough calculations regarding the oral English teaching business in Yuncheng.

An FT on 20 classes a week working for Harry teaches at least 1000 students. The middle school gets 1000 X 360 Yuan for one academic year from each student = 360000 Yuan. The total cost borne by the company will be around 10000 Yuan per month for 10 months. This figure includes the FT's accommodation, his salary, his other benefits, such as air fare allowance, the salary of his TA, and HR costs, as well as the rental of the company HQ in Yuncheng. So, we can expect the company to bill the middle school for 160000 Yuan at most. It looks like the school is fleecing the parents. Just my take on the business there. It might well be inaccurate. But I thought I'd give it a go!

I think I'll be able to find out what has happened there. Right now I can say for sure that IELTS school has shed most of its FTs and their TAs. The three FTs who are left are teaching at the company's training school assisted by three TAs.
As soon as I have more relevant information, I'll post again.

Yuncheng IELTS, what's up?

I was gonna apply to Mr Rivers for a teaching post there. However, the company website has been down for a few weeks to now! Anyone know why?
