I know for many teaching is a way of funding their lifestyle, and it breaks my heart that it's the case.

But you haven't said anything against CT for posting that, so you must understand my confusion? Either it's acceptable or not, and if it's not you can't say you think he's a good teacher.
If I saw any poster say that the progress of their students is not a priority, I would call them.on it, as I have done with CT. But he's the only one I have seen post that and so what another poster has said in another thread I have no knowledge of is not really something you can expect me to comment on. Perhaps a link as you asked me to provide for CTs post would be more helpful, instead of expecting me to know what somebody said on a different thread using a different name.
I'm unsure as to why you say you could return to insulting me? I haven't said anything insulting to you, just asked how somebody like you can defend somebody like CT. If anything that's a compliment as it shows I put you in a different bracket to him. You I believe actually care about your students, as I do, which is why (ally or not) I don't understand you side-stepping his comments. Had I said I thought teaching drunk was acceptable, you would have been on it like a shot. All I ask is for fair consideration.
I know for many teaching is a way of funding their lifestyle, and it breaks my heart that it's the case. You must understand why I have contempt for anyone I see proudly proclaiming that's their reason for teaching though?
I also think the 'broken system' defense is wrong. Yes, the system is flawed. There are major problems with ESL teaching in China... However that doesn't excuse someone's individual choice to be under the influence whilst in a classroom. I worked in China for 2 years, I never went to class drunk, there is no reason any other teacher should either. Blaming the system and not the teacher is just passing the buck.of personal responsibility.
