The development of any service industry, even in mature economies, will not be greatly influenced by itinerant foreign workers. Domestic owners and employees, government regulators and consumers will each in part determine the industry's evolution. The private English language training industry in China is no exception. This industry's recruitment advertising blatantly displays its scorn for foreign employee teaching qualifications and shamelessly documents its systemic evasion of well-intentioned government regulations. Honest contributors to this forum have provided thousands of personal experiences of the industry's abusive behavior. In response, industry members do their best to obfuscate transgressions exposed on this site by posing as foreign teachers and contesting complaints and/or cleverly endeavor to bury negative school reviews in shovel loads of their nonsensical chatter.
The reader would do well to limit his consideration to each individual school's review.
