Most Vietnamese victims of human trafficking in China, are of ethnic minorities, come from poorer rural communities close to the border where the Vietnamese language isn't quite so widely spoken, possibly due to poor educational standards locally. This has presented huge headaches for police officers when they encounter such cases as it is almost impossible to get information from the trafficking victim or prostitution suspect, as it is nearly impossible to even identify such rare minority languages, never mind hire interpretors.
