Chinese authorities truly are scared of all foreigners a lot more than ours are of Muslims. You've got 180 days to prove them wrong.

Something new has arisen. How do you get a passport legalised? An estate agent, whatever they call themselves in China, has said I will need to get my passport legalised in order to appear on the deeds. Slightly academic at the moment because the PSB has still got my passport until 25th. It does sound to me like the estate agent is making up things. He's quite happy to not have my name on the deeds. A legalised passport sounds a strange beast to me.

Still in the city. Wife never bothered to tell me where she was taking me to this morning ...a bloody training centre.The boss lady had spent time in newcastle so she could understand my accent. As much as I tried to tell her I was no teacher no inlination to be she would retort that I was just the man they were looking for to fill the oral english position on a mums the word understanding at 150 per hour. I was told I look the part so I was well suited. The idea was the wife to work and not me. But they have arranged for me to start sunday and she is busy working out how long 10k will take me by bike.
Wife,s parents offered to chip in to buy small apartment.

We were given 5 copies of a form and still dont know what the fifth one is for. We did ask for it to be stamped anyway just in case but they refused.I am sure the chinese dont give you an extra copy in case of mistakes. We did get a lift back to the village to get exrtra stuff yesterday, my thinking it would take all week, but it ended abruptly just before PSB closed. Now we are stuck with a heavy suitcase. I dont know whether to return to village to regroup or stay. The village police told us yesterday that if we had done rp through them we would even have to get permission whenever we wanted to leave the village. Jesus!
My guess is that the fifth copy is for presentation to a police station in the event of you flitting to a location outwith the control of the police station you are currently tied to, within the 180 day validity of your RP. Or if you don't flit, that copy to be completed by your current police atation before you venture to the big city to renew your RP. So, you can save yourself a return trip to the PSB in order to obtain an accommodation form.
The extra copy they gave you is to be used in the future. The PSB have done you a favor in that respect!

Sounds like you have been treated par for the course. Those officials at the PSB are a different breed from ordinary Chinese. I suspect the PSB themselves were the hardest to deal with when compared to the police stations you visited. The thing is that without the accommodation paperwork being properly completed and stamped, you could end up overstaying and being fined 5,000 RMB/day if that hasn't increased. Delays can occur at police stations if the boss is out. He is the only one with the stamp, which is kept in a padlocked drawer, and nobody else has the key.

Just had two uncomfortable days.Headed for City early yesterday, across country then climber over motorway barrier and flagged down bus. Not easy at my age with 12 month old baby. We arrived as they opened at PSB who gave us all the forms they thought we should have for starters. We had lunch paid by relative, mussels, ginger, crab prawns, all wasted on me as I am a yorkshire pudding man. Then commenced the nightmare of other policice stations that specialise in accommodation and you need to go to two of those specialising outposts, then back to big Psb then they send you cack to get them stamped and return and get sent back for more stamps and go back with a carrier bag full of beers th make them more compliant. Eventually got residence permits at five to six BUT!! Only for a piddly 180 days. They say we will get longer when we renew. The two of us got charged 400 quid plus another say £30 of beer. They were thinking of refusing us because nippers birth certificate is not yet legalised but we got more beer. I should say my wies relatives paid fir the beer so should not complain.
