Warning to all teachers and potential staff.
CELI is a company based in Cebu and will be expanding into China as well as Australia.
In China, Payroll was due on May 15,2007 for all staff . On May 12th all staff was asked to leave the office and not return and no payroll was met.
They are not licensed to have educational programs in China and cant hire teachers.
Please, prior to being hired by them ask for there licence and scope as they have no proper legal identity other then being a agent under a WOFE in China which simply means no true identity for education.
The high management in Cebu, does micro manage everything but is accountable for nothing when they error.
They are a division of a major company called Bigfoot, which is a very successful organization but not based on the person or people who manage CELI and nor does Bigfoot care of what CELI does in their day to day operation.
We as a group, hope you use extreme cautionwhen making a choice to work for them. We will not express lies or hate but facts and will red flag this orginzation so others will not be hurt financially like the group above was.
I have just came back from my one year teaching in China. I would say i enjoyed it very much in the beginning but honestly, teaching english in China got a little tiring. I would like to share a little of my experience with those who are/plan to go teach abroad.
First let me say that please beaware of a school called FE aka Fu Ying English training center located in Nantong City of the JiangSu province. I have met the worst scamming boss there. He didn't want to buy me a regular plane ticket so i had to look for the city council officers to help me resolve my contract problem. PLEASE BEAWARE THAT WHAT ARE STATED IN THE CONTRACT MIGHT JUST BE A LIE! MAKE SURE YOU ASK YOUR EMPLOYER/CONTRACTOR to list out the details or anything you would like BEFORE you sign the contrat.
As a result for my problem, though i got my plane ticket i wanted, but the school made me waited for three hours before giving me the ticket. while i was waiting, they gave me all excuses just to get back for what i did. MESS UP HUH?! anyhow, i learned my lesson, ALWAYS watch out for your own benefits and protect yourself while you're in China, just b/c people there can be very cunning and scamming!
i just hope no one would have to go through what i had to go through!
