Generally I agree with what you say but the managing director at KYP does seem to have personality issues which further complicate the situation. The college staff seem to hate him and through observing his general attitude, the way he treats them, the way he can be a nuisance in complicating even easy management procedures, they really need to get him moved back into some basic office accounting job, after all that's what he is, just an accountant. Without doubt he is in the job due to political friends rather than professional ability. His actions cause incredible stress on all types of staff, he has a child like propensity towards bizarre tantrums, orders college photographers to follow him around to take pics of him, which he then uses for self publicity.
He was as you say the driving force to push the college to recruit so many foreign lecturers and he had a self belief that he could cheat or fool the ministry of education into handing out work visa's. His nuisance approach further complicated the already doomed visa application process.
That college cost me and my family a lot of wasted time, money and put us in a negative spotlight for the Malaysian visa office.
I wont be done with him till he is legally punished.
KYP YaYaSang Kuantan, Malaysia are again trying to recruit foreign teachers, now April 2017. In all sincerity steer clear of this Malaysian college. In the short time I spent with them they broke every legal employment law possible. As soon as I fell for the fake interview process I was trapped into working illegally without a visa, from that point on things just got worse. When I gave notice to leave the managing director became incredibly nasty, he is actually an accountant and given the job of managing the college through his political friend. He carries some sort of honorary title (Dato) again achieved through political friends.
In fact though Malaysia as a country moves forward in terms of trying to change, he is exactly the type of character the country needs to leave behind. I tried very hard to get him before the courts in Malaysia but I ran out of time and left the country, however, I am still determined to get that court hearing in the future. The human resources department should behave professionally but they cannot due to their fear of this fake MD, he has child like threatening tantrums and is generally an unprofessional nuisance, they simply sit around ignoring the legal employment violations while hoping the political friends of the MD will eventually move him elsewhere.
He constantly sets up fake self seeking publicity stunts to present himself in a positive light, it is so ridiculous. Everything you read on blogs about this college and their manager is totally true, pre - 2016. You can choose to ignore my advice but many others are also warning about this place.
Granted, years ago it might have been a place that was ok to work but certainly from the start of 2016 up to now it is not safe and not to be trusted.
If you want to go there be ready to sign a fake contract, be offered a visa giving a different job description to what you will actually do and stay on your toes because one day the police and immigration officers will potentially storm the college and take you away for deportation, to date these departments, just like the legal system have ignored what is happening in the college but it cannot continue forever.
This college cost me a lot of money, time and incredible stress, I offered them the chance to apologize and compensate, they ignored this.
This coming weekend I will do what is right and start blogging on multiple sites to warn teachers, set up a WIX website dedicated to the MD and continue in my fight to get legal justice, especially via the media and eventually a court hearing.
Last year they recruited 11 foreigners, at least 9 of those foreigners were put through total nonsense regarding no visa, being offered fake working visa titles while doing other duties, made to participate in bizarre publicity stunts, pushed out of contractually agreed housing, loss of money, self respect etc.
Don't be fooled by their job adverts, their are plenty of real college jobs in Malaysia and Asia, choose a legal sane employer.
Seven out of twelve expats have left or been dismissed since August 2015, four months. The statistics speak for themselves.
The interests and efforts of management of this institution is 95% political, 5% academics.
If you excel at political tactics like brown-nosing, negative propaganda, and tickling the ear, you will do well here. If, however, you prefer forthrightness, reason, logic and your interest is in academic excellence, you will be much happier elsewhere.

The situation in the college is mind boggling. As one of the staff recently told me before he quit, he refuses to call him the MD as he is actually an accountant? I agree with this perception and I suspect he is not much of an accountant.
The history about him is clear, even those that have mentioned him through working with him in previous years describe him as a nuisance, has delusions of self importance, lacks any comprehension about academic services, refuses to listen to advice and is not capable of understanding professional advice, constantly chasing staged publicity events which present him in a fake positive light not only in the college but everywhere and to get something done they simply ignored his directions and did the job properly. Naturally, he the MD took credit for things when they were done properly.
Chat to any local resident in Kuantan city where the college is located, at the mention of his name they roll their eyes and proceed to describe him in the same way as he is described here on ESL teacher board.
He also clearly has zero understanding about Malaysian employment law and the rights of employees. His buffoonery, bullying employees. uneducated academic leadership is really hurting KPY college. All Malaysian staff just want his political friends to move him elsewhere so that they can get on with undoing the damage he has done to the college. Regularly, he takes sick leave and during those brief respites the college staff try to re-stabilize some of the damage done by him in the college.
So how did this man get a job as a Managing Director in a college that is falling apart because of him?
He has political friends who do favors for him not based on his capability but based upon his political friends helping him out. This means either those political friends face the truth and remove him or he will be free to continue to mess up anything good that is placed under his control.
It will be interesting to see what the final result will be?
I should also say, this type of person would not be placed in such a job in the states and probably not in Europe.
Staff in KYP are reading these comments and they know everything is true.
I know they could say so much but they are frightened of him. You guys can comment here and this website protects your right to speak freely. So many of you say you want him gone, if enough of you comment, even his political middle level friends will get nervous because the central government will pick up on this and take real action against him and any political friends misusing their positions to protect him.
The attached photo says it all. Staff still stuck at this college have received their latest threat from the college manager.
The MEMO from the college is in the public domain so it can be seen by anybody.
Staff are now told to sign a document, which subtly warns them through this sentence "for my employment or continued employment" that they must sign and agree that their images belong to KYP and can be used for virtually anything.
Think about this if your looking at joining this college. The MD is an egotist, he insists that somebody follows him not only with a standard camera but often filming him. He is unable to show up on time for any type of meeting so it must be frustrating for those told to wait and film or take photos of him. He uses this as personal publicity to present himself in a light which is very different from reality.
Here is an example. THE DAY OF THE BLACK SHIRTS.
A member of staff commented that a black shirt worn by him suited him. He immediately ordered staff around him both male and female to wear black shirts just like him. All foreign staff were ordered by him to collect 100 ringet from the college finance office ( what a waste of college money) and told to go and buy a black shirt and wear it around the college.
The foreign staff were then ordered by him to attend a photo studio ( more college costs ) and told to stand around him dressed in black shirt or blouse tops, just like him while photos were taken.
He then had the photos doctored to show all staff with him waving flags from their home countries, then he had these photos placed on giant road side bill boards around the city and state of Pahang.
Did he ask for permission from those in the photos? No of course not. Staff that have escaped from him and the college want these billboards taken down and HE the college refuses.
Sure, you can sign a contract but don't be surprised when they choose to change the contract rules.
IGNORE THIS PERSON THEY HAVE BEEN SENT TO DISRUPT THIS BLOG THREAD.
Clearly they are not actually an ESL professional, does not even understand how to use the English language. Errors in only three sentences.

Malaysia is a very good country and working here can be professionally fulfilling but as with any country, seek out a good employer and do your research before accepting a job.

I have requested and achieved representation from JPP Pahang, this is a legal government office which investigates and resolves industrial disputes between employees and employers. I have requested this office to talk to the college management. If the mediation receives a negative response, transfer the case to Kuala Lumpur for full action.
Considering the independent legal advice which I have also taken, I was told to take my case to the JPP industrial office as a starter and the advice also covered the methodologies for taking a second related further investigative legal action against an individual and not the college.

For example if you want to be a lecturer in a college, they will produce a letter for the Malaysian visa office to agree or disagree your visa entitlement. This is done through identifying if you are properly qualified. Naturally, if they refuse to issue a support letter, you will be denied a visa, they keep records so if they note a follow up visa application from a prospective employer claiming you will do a different job, they are professionals and will respond legally and appropriately. Be on your guard, it is not unheard for an employer to achieve a visa for a different job title and then put an employee to work in duties which do not reflect the job title or the professional ability of the holder of the visa.If that happens your work contract will be illegal, your actions will be illegal and your legal rights zero. Do your research make sure you protect yourself and your employer, ensure that illegalities do not accidentally take place.
In most countries, students pay for education and rightfully expect that they are being taught by an appropriately qualified person, students and legislative authorities will not be happy if they are scammed. YOU ARE A FOREIGNER: We must obey and respect the laws in our host country, we must not work without the required work visa, if we break the laws we should expect to be reported and caught. If you have been refused a visa by a government and you continue to work on a visitor visa or participate in attempting to dupe the authorities with a different visa application, you can only blame yourself when you are caught. If you are working under one type of visa but knowingly doing different work/duties which are covered by a different visa it is illegal and you are disrespecting the laws in your host country. If an employer manipulates you into doing this, report the situation ASAP.
When entering most countries, do not forget to bring a police clearance letter from your home country, especially when working in schools or educational institutes. If your employer does not request such a document you need to get from them in writing an explanation as to why you are exempt?
Request a copy from the prospective employer of the visa requirements and qualifications which you must meet to obtain a work visa. Ensure you are being interviewed by actual human resources trained staff. Request a copy of the offered work contract before you enter another country, read it closely and compare the contract conditions against the employment laws in that country. Check the offered monthly pay against similar jobs. Ensure you are offered medical insurance for you as an individual and not a group insurance which will be controlled by one individual employer who will decide if you can get medical help, or not? Ensure any terms offered for housing are clear and not vague. Ensure your weekly/monthly working hours are stated clearly and avoid clauses such as "you will dedicate out of hours duties for the employer" as this is a scam to over work you and not pay overtime pay.

A[edited] is the highest paid foreign national in the college after the fake consultant B[edited].
Complaints from female students regarding his approaches to them were covered up by the MD. I am told and it appears to be true that the college wanted to distract him from the female students so they found a physically handicapped Malay lady from a poor family, she agreed to marry him.
Will this distract his urges towards the young female students?
A[edited] presented fake qualifications to the college to secure a lecturers job, the college knows his qualifications are fake but the MD continues to retain him as the second highest paid foreigner in the college. He has also used fake qualifications to previously trick another employer in Malaysia along with tricking the Malaysian visa office.
How ironic the two highest paid individuals in the college are also the least appropriately qualified.
I know that somebody is actively and patiently taking forward evidence for a court case against the college and especially the inappropriately placed managing director. When the court is ready, two of us will step forward with very helpful information for that court to support what he tells the court.
I gave my notice formally, one months notice and the managing director refused to accept it and responded with bribes which he thought would keep me at the college, he failed, I am far too honest and I will not take part in this type of dishonest behavior.

The college claims to be going through an English language transition but in truth the core subjects have been taught in English for years, therefore even the language transition claim is totally false. The two pretend consultants offer something they call English activity classes for students and staff to practice English but in truth these so called activities rarely actually happen.

Kolej Yayasan Pahang started out in 1992 as 'Institut Kemajuan Ikhtisas Pahang' - The Pahang Advanced Skills Institute, if my memory serves me correctly. It split into Kolej IKIP and IKIP Skills Training (IKIP Utama) a few years after that. Both have always been under Yayasan Pahang and remained so until Dato Sariah Sa'ad resigned as Managing Director. At that time, I suspect, it was decided to bring IKIP formally under YP and become KYP. IKIP had applied to become a Kolej-Universiti, like KU ShahPutra (the main rival in Kuantan), but was denied by the Ministry of Education for (probably) political reasons.
Anyway, IKIP had employed foreign lecturers prior to re-branding as KYP. I was one of those and I was hired in 2000 based upon job interviews held in Subang Jaya. I was working at a different college in SJ and tendered my resignation in order to move to Kuantan and work for IKIP. Here is my experience and there is a lesson to be learned.
When I was transfered from the SJ college to IKIP, first my work permit had to be cancelled by the SJ college and then a new one issued to IKIP. It was a touchy process. IKIP tried to use an agent and this pissed off Immigration/Ministry of Education (MoE). The agent forged the signature of the head of the SJ college in order to get Immigration/MoE to act upon IKIP's application more quickly. The IKIP program director and I had to make a quick trip to KL in order to be chewed out by the Ministry of Education (MoE) before they would issue a work permit, and they did two days before I started teaching. It helped that the lady with MoE was the former student of an IKIP board member.
After that, it was easy sailing. IKIP never used an agent with me after that (I went to KL one more time with the program director). I was not the only foreign lecturer. There had been a white guy before me. During my time they hired two Iraqis, one Brit, and one Egyptian. I taught English for only one year before a business program opened up for which I was a lecturer (in English) and program director. I eventually moved into the UTM program and taught engineering subjects in Malay. Ask around; those UTM lecturers will remember "Mr. James".
I left for personal reasons in 2012. After working at IKIP for 12 years, the MoE told IKIP about the 10-year rule and IKIP was not allowed to renew my contract for year 13. BTW, one rule that the MoE began to enforce is that a lecturer can only teach the subject in which they had earned their bachelors degree. For example, a Tamil colleague had a BS in Chemistry and MBA. He was teaching business subjects, but the MoE began to tell IKIP he was only qualified to teach chemistry subjects. Likewise, I had a BS in Forestry (with Hydrology emphasis) and I was teaching Hydrology as a subject, but an MoE prick told IKIP that I could only teach Forestry classes from that point onward.
Anyway, I would not be surprised if some of the English teacher expat group were denied work permits because their bachelor degrees are not in English but some other subject. I know the man who is currently managing director of YP and, thus, KYP. He and I worked together on a couple of projects that went well, but there were some frictions due to the difference in western versus Malay perspective. I flexed for him, but didn't always comply with his requests, conveniently "forgetting" he had made the request.
This is what I suspect happened. The new managing director wanted to raise the English language training at KYP in a big way (typical of YP) by hiring a bunch of English teachers, promoting English widely, and making a large "launch" to tell the world. Lost in the details were the fact that work permits were needed for this large group of English teachers. At the time that I left in 2012, all English teachers at IKIP were Malaysian. So into I/MoE come a pile of work permit applications for people who may not have BA degrees in English, and they are competing against Malaysian graduates who HAVE Malaysian uni qualifications in English (never mind they couldn't speak English). So, I/MoE rejected some of those applications. KYP menjadi malulah!!
But, of course, no one is going to admit to the expat English teacher group what really happened and so they (you) are being given the round-around.
Moral of the story: EFL is a sunset industry in a large part of Asia. Westerners still want to travel the world by teaching English, but the countries are getting more selective and going for locals, cheaper expats (Filipinos), or westerners with PhDs. IKIP/KYP is under pressure to hire more PhDs to make it look like they are a research school but other than PhDs in Comparative Religion, it has been difficult for them to send and retain Malays who want to go that high. I know several former IKIP lecturers who got their PhDs and then quit IKIP to join universities. Thus, a sunset industry + westerners desperate for a job/work permit = conditions ripe for a "scam". (I would rather label it "incompetence or lack of attention to details" by KYP rather than a thought-out scam.)
I have no easy solutions for the expat "group" that got caught between KYP's large plans and the I/MoE rules. You should NEVER take a job without a work permit, and NEVER allow them to use an agent. It is tough, I know. Asian colleges don't like to hire from overseas; they want people on the ground and that is how I got hired by two different colleges in Malaysia. But one can crawl into the I/MoE offices in KL and plead a hardship case. When I joined IKIP in 2000, it was my idea for the program director and I to go to KL directly and appeal to I/MoE. They gave us loathsome looks, but issued the permit before the 4:30 closing time.

I have never heard of the college recruiting foreign nationals before? my only interest is "now" and a desire for any unintentional wrongs to be put right so that the college can move forward properly rather than constantly stalling with regards to its aims and suffering from what I hope is only clumsy unintentional mismanagement.
The college has potential but it needs to reflect carefully, put right any unintentional clumsy mismanagement or wrongs.
If the power that holds sway in the college refuses to adapt a more realistic approach then it is logical that support ( and if need be?) penalties are invoked through the appropriate legislative government and legal offices to assist it in the right positive direction.
So if you want to post, please show honesty and courage and use your own name, especially if you want to assist the good local and international staff, paying students within the college.

I finished at this college yesterday the 4th December 2016.
I have seen comments alluding to me regarding what I am doing or not doing and I can only say that such speculation is not helpful, in fact it is unhelpful.
I have been following these posts with interest but felt unable to comment till such time I have left the college. My aim was to comment this coming Wednesday following an important meeting before Wednesday when I will know formally what needs to be said.
Till such time, please stop posting, if you are staff you cannot comment about me, you do not fully know my intentions and speculation is simply speculation.
If you are not staff why even bother to comment? If you have questions you want answered you need to ask the college and document the response, do it through the right channels. If for some reason you are angry at the college or any person within it, speculation and mud slinging will not change anything and only serve to cloud anything factual.
I agree with Stacey, there are some nice beaches around the area but we don't work at the beaches. We have individual offices with water proof asbestos roofing to keep out the regular tropical rains.

I, too, work for KYP, a member of the first group of expats the school has ever brought in. If hired, you will be part of the second wave. It is true, there are issues, but I have never worked for a place where there weren't. I enjoy the job and the opportunities it affords as it asks us to help in the transition to an English-medium college.
I like the area, but I am not one for big cities. There are many beautiful places and beaches in the surrounding area. The living is cheap, the people are nice, I like my colleagues, my office, the campus, the campus location, and the place where I live. KYP has never been late in paying, and is trying to set right mistakes made.
I think the management was ill-prepared for all the ramifications of bringing in a large group of foreigners, that it has been a big learning curve. Surprisingly, they want more of us, and stay dedicated to their mission. Sure, you should do your research and make your best decision. If you are hot-tempered, don't like working as a team, or cannot handle uncertainties, this is not the best choice for you, or us.

If I apply will I be interviewed by those consultants and the managing director or human resources? Who is selecting and recruiting? Where are the consultants from? Will I be working for them or the college? Who pays better the college of the consultants? How much do they pay they don't say in the advert? What subjects to be taught? I have a masters in education & a TEFL is that enough? Who is running the show there? What does yayasan mean?
I can't afford any screw up"s if I invest my time and dollars to go there. Should I drop applying?

Inform the industrial relations office, the Directors of Immigration, Education and the legal office for central government.
If you really don't know how to help yourselves, let our government and law offices do it for you.

I regard Malaysia as my second home and I assure all of you both Malaysians and international, we have laws here, these laws work for the people. The government here will not allow this treatment for any of you.

Wow has the head of English academics started blogging here? This style of English is confusing. In terms of reviewing the college it does demonstrate the need for qualified foreign English language lecturers to help out but they must be qualified.

Yes we are 11 in total, two have received genuine lecturer work visa's and the first two that arrived six months before us in the college were somehow given lecturer visa's but continue to claim to be in the college as consultants. I recommend the visa office review exactly why they issued these two a visa when they do not work in academics and never actually give lecturers, are they really consultants, if yes then of course they must have consultant visa's after all they did do a deal with the MD to register a fee charging consulting agency?
Conflict of management interest, it is not legal for a managing director to be a partner or assist in setting up an external agency to operate within the college offering any type of fee attracting service to the college. Don't people get arrested when caught in corruption in Malaysia?
This duplicitous trio are in direct infringement of Malaysian law. If they conspired to set up a consulting agency to help the college and dip into college funds to get money why did they also go and spend two weeks working in China and picking up income for which they have not paid income tax into Malaysia and did the managing director get his share of that money? Somebody please explain what they actually do here.
Let us pretend I am a Malaysian tax payer and immigration officer and I ask the following questions.
Those two consultants and their agency partner the Managing Director are doing what for the college? The answer really is easy. They are taking the college as a cash cow while giving a paltry unneeded return.
Are the foreigners working on visitor visa's in the college? Yes, they are entering their 5th month of forced illegal employment.
Do they exit the country on visa runs and re-enter the country on visitor visa;s to continue working? Yes.
Does the college pay for the visa runs? No, the college insists that it does not pay.
Are they paying tax? The Managing Director takes tax from them at around 27 per cent of the monthly salary. He claims the college is paying it. This is unique as none of the foreigners are even registered as employed in Malaysia, they are registered here as on visitor vacations.
These two consultants brought all of us here through recruiting as a direct insistent request from the Managing Director for them to do so. They did not follow a correct recruitment process along with not checking our qualifications to confirm we are correctly qualified for a lecturing visa, no police clearance check, no checking of references. Are they HR staff, consultants, lecturers, somebody tell me what they actually are? Answer. These three, the manager and his two agency partners are among the highest paid staff in the entire college while all three of them glibly claiming they don't get much.
These three brought all of us here to this college, this current nightmare exists because they were recruiting under the insistence of a Managing Director whom ignored the advice of his own HR staff. HR do recruiting not two friends in joint ownership with an agency which is fleecing the college.
Do we believe they are real consultants and they and their Managing Director partner work very hard everyday for the good of the college and students?
One or two more lecturers might actually still get a lecturers visa but only for one subject, we are watching and waiting. If only one subject, will they be forced to lecture other subjects? Eventually yes.
The rest of the foreign team are being told to accept a visa for some other job such as a mentor or an assistant manager and then they must lecture academic classes. I caution the college about this because if the visa office has already refused lecturer's visa's because they are not qualified to be lecturers why does the management aim to deceive the government visa office and in turn put unqualified lecturers into college classrooms where fee paying students will receive unqualified lecturing?
This is easy to answer.
The Managing Director has reassured us he will call in favors from influential friends and fool or even force the Malaysian immigration into giving the none lecturer college visa's so that they can all work illegally as unqualified lecturers at a fraction of a real lecturers pay.
Malaysia, is this the example of a college management system which you want to show to the world?
Two of our group have quit, one walked out at the end of the first month, the other recently escaped and he is suing the college, two others gave notice to leave but were refused permission to leave by the Managing Director. Do not force foreign people to participate in criminality if we do not qualify, accept this fact. Let us leave.

The 11 esteemed lecturers and 1 doctorate of theology were refused finalization of their department's supper that was guaranteed in their contracts. This outrageous slight cost each lecturer 30 ringgits. The PhD was however comped.
College ownership may in fact does avoid face-to-facts discussion with yours so truly regarding this non-event. Repeatedly. Nevertheless I will prevail.
As I type on my Lenovo Lavender Laptop I can see, in real time, now, the invasive cookies being monitored by the college's internet cronies.

Let's establish facts, this is not an attack on the college, we are all engaged in reflection, nothing vindictive is happening this is all about people wanting to be allowed to speak, not being attacked when they speak the truth and not being punished and victimized if they try to keep the college functional rather than keep silent while it is led into oblivion. Only one person is allowed to make decisions in the college, others including managers are silenced by the fear of irrational responses which come combined with vicious victimization.
Of course I know one person has said no he will not be treated this way, he has given notice to leave and will seek legal redress, this has resulted in attempts to bully staff to comply in trying to isolate him, bribe staff with promises of promotion into higher job positions in which they get a title along with continued dis-empowerment, openly abuse and threaten him with the aim of scaring other staff into silence.
I say to him don't give up, I will support you, at the right moment I will take back my right to speak and think and I will give him a report which he can show to the courts. The report will be truly and honestly conceived and will demonstrate who this manager really is, how he was given his misguided power, the names of those that did a favor and put him into the college, the names of those he tallies favors from to wrongly empower him, his current deceptions aimed at misleading government offices in Malaysia in order to achieve aims which all of his staff wish they could advise him not to do because he is destroying our college.
Though at this moment I feel sure he feels isolated, is being victimized I would like to remind him that many staff have taken recent advice from the legal office he is working with for justice, at the right moment he will be furnished with substantial evidence and real time support. When he gets that court date for real he can put aside the feeling of my bad that is being heaped on him, others will believe, step forward with stories and evidence and the truth will be shown in a conclusive light which will blaze brightly over Malaysia and that isolated miserable unhappy college. The pain for everyone will finish.
Do the right thing, get your court case date and I will step in and support you along with the other local and foreign staffs that are also waiting to speak.
We will support you, believe this but if you take payment from him and walk away from the court, you will have betrayed all of us. Can you live with that?
We need a swap in management for the sake of the staff, students and the future of the college if you start this and then walk away having agreed some deal to line your pockets we will view you as one and the same as the person at the center of this investigation. Don't betray us or your values.

The problems within this college are not only having a detrimental impact on foreign staff whom are still after so many months illegally working on visitor visa's but also on localized employees at all levels within the college, the atmosphere comes over as miserable, unhappy, dis-empowering, irrationally threatening, misdirecting and regular victimization targeted at any staff member that questions or thinks, regardless of their ethnicity, race, gender or working position.

I believe what I am told and I can see on the internet that various individuals are putting out their views and that others are looking to also express themselves, they are waiting for the right moment to be heard. I am told and I know it is true. I have also had my moments as a victim in the college. Nobody in the college dare to make a decision unless they hold protection from victimization from him. How do they get such protection, by simply playing along with his maladministration but even then such protection is only temporary.
Entire departments led by powerless managers are frozen into immobility when they need to do something as simple as making a decision. On the front of things he shouts do your job ( but he does not do his job) but if you dare to do your job you get accused of being disrespectful especially if you make a decision without giving the decision making process over to him so he can take control and change it to a wrong decision.
I will continue to blog, I will not be silenced from allowing the truth to be known and I will do everything possible to assist any employee to take back their personal respect, freedom to think, decide and speak without having to fear irrational victimization.
When I opened my e mails today the first thing I read is that he has demanded the college IT department find the IP numbers of any person commenting online so that he can silence them. He has ordered that two staff be driven out the college even though he has no proof that it is them practicing the right to speak the truth.
R....... I tell you on behalf of many others both foreign and local, get that court date set, we will when the time is right step forward and support you, PLEASE don't accept any offered deal and walk away. Do your job and help our college.
I would like to inform anyone of the potential applicants about the situation at KYP college. The college is highly mismanaged both in terms of monetary funds and in terms of incompetence. There are 10 foreign lecturers and two recruiters/contractors. 5 of the lecturer visas have been refused. The college Md is a blatant corrupt person who instead of paying these lecturers their 3 month pay and let them leave the college to find other suitable jobs has ordered for them to be allocated to other jobs and roles in college. Md is known to throw tantrums, he is known to insult staff, shout at them and throw stuff when he is in a fit.Every paper and document must be signed by Md before anything can be approved.
The lecturers are working illegally and are constantly told that their correct visas will be processed. Md continues to amend and go back on his word. The lecturers were promised free accommodation in the letter of employment but when they arrived to Malaysia Md had changed his mind so the college administration followed his orders. Lastly there are no college holidays! You have to take them out of your leave days. Please read the contract carefully before you sign up to be embezzled by this college. Be aware that recruiters are not the owners they are simply handing over the lecturers to the college.
Please be aware that the contract will not be honored. One of the lecturers I'm told is taking legal action at the industrial tribunal of Malaysia. Just in case you do accept the offer and decide to work with this college, please do not be intimidated by these folks. Contact the relevant Malaysian authorities as soon as they try to wrong you! Unlike the lecturers who are trapped now and are finding their ways to sue the college.

If you want to take a job there, ask that you are allowed to mail the existing team of foreigners current in place at the college. Ask them what feels like to work there? what are management like there especially the head boss?

Perhaps before individually commenting about this college you should give the college the chance to see if they do the right thing?
Naturally it is legal to want to claim compensation in such a situation but has the college been given the chance to demonstrate fairness and pay compensation?
I see nothing yet which evidences a refusal by the college.
If the college does the fair thing and pays compensation, that fact should also be posted here, or this blog even removed.

I need to let you all know about KYP College in Kuantan, Malaysia. Please do your future employer checks before accepting an underpaid position as a lecturer.
I trusted this Malaysian college only to find my trust was misdirected. It cost me a fortune to go to Malaysia and I lost all of the money I paid out.
For reasons which totally elude me, the college is managed by an accountant and he clearly does not have management or people skills, the local staff and the new lecturers from other countries find he constantly makes misguided decisions, has a very bad threatening temper and he is exceptionally aggressive, on a daily basis he changes the required work aims which results in constant misery and confusion.. He ordered the college to recruit 11 foreign subject lecturers and is insisting on recruiting another eight. So far, two have quit and five are looking desperately to get away.
Promises are made that if you find the college not suitable within the first three months, the college will pay three months leaving pay to you but the college manager does not honor this promise.
So far, over half of those foreign lecturers have had work visa applications refused, rather than pay them leaving money, the manager has decided to make them stay and accept that the college will get a none lecturer visa for them but they still must lecture. This is of course illegal. I am told that one of the foreign staff is taking legal recourse against the college, this sounds right but will he/she get a fair result?
Please, please think very carefully if your ever offered a job by this manager and college, ask for a copy of the contract while you are still in your home country but when you read it be very aware that the college is actually changing the contract by which they recruited foreign lecturers, despite those already employed not wanting further contract changes which will downgrade them from lecturers to some other job title.
If you are thinking of accepting a job in this low range college, first do extensive research into the history of this low performing college, you really must research on the college manager, try to contact existing staff both Malaysian and foreign and get the truth about how the college is managed and the daily abuse of even the most basic of employment rights, check the monthly pay as it is ridiculous in comparison to what lecturers receive in genuine colleges in Malaysia. Use google to check norhishamuddin yaacob, check http://www.kyp.my/index.php/blog/284-ceo-trainee-kyp-little-ambassador and see how he used his position to promote his niece, a young child, you can read it and start to understand why problems exist in the college. On the website he avoids mentioning the child is his relative and all staff were forced to fawn over this child despite the fact there was nothing exceptional about her. To not fawn over her and not play along meant that the manager would punish you. There is much to tell about the manager and the college.
I am keeping in daily contact with two of the foreign lecturers in the college, they feel trapped and they are.
There are so many things wrong and I will post weekly to let everybody know what is going on.
