Re PKU College Kindergarten

Each to their own, I guess. Some people will love it here, maybe others will not.

I work in the Weihai branch, and started working here because I love this city. I have honestly had my fair share of problems with this school (my branch) but one call to Beijing and they straighten things out(mostly). I'm pretty positive my co-teachers dislike me, but its because I don't take shit from them anymore. If I'm unhappy they'll know about it.

So who is wrong? I think I'm right and they probably also think they're right. Just because I don't get along with my co-workers(the ones I work with from 8-12), doesn't make this a bad school.

I will say that you really SHOULDN'T work for this school if you want the typical 'easy' ESL teaching job, it's really tiring here.

You SHOULD work here if you want to feel like a real teacher and want your students to truly respect and love you.

I've had other ESL jobs before this one, and all I felt like was form of entertainment. Students didn't really respect me, but here they do.

The joy these students bring me everyday will always outweigh the negatives of this school.

you just have to ask yourself what you came here for.

Re PKU College Kindergarten

Hi there?
I keep wondering which PKU Kindergarten are you in. Actually, my school is beautiful, and the principal and Chinese teachers are really nice people. My TA and Chinese Lead Teacher works very hard, they help a lot with classroom management and disciplines of the kids. We four all together make a good team. Even though most of the Chinese teachers can’t speak English, they always try to help. My campus is new and the principal have no idea how to organize an event to celebrate the Halloween and thanksgiving. I told her what my friends and I usually did back home; she is quite open to new opinions. I received a copy of school calendar on my first day, most of the school events and holiday plans were listed out there. Normally, my principal would notice me the important school events at least one month before, so that I can make my own plans. Sometimes she just let me know about the time schedule, the procedure and plans would come later. Anyway, I’m happy with my PKU kindergarten work and life in China now.

Re PKU College Kindergarten

I can't speak for all of PKU's branches, but it's encouraging to know I'm not the only one who has been having problems. I've been feeling a similar way, and have honestly wanted to give up for some time now. My students are fantastic but I feel dead and drained almost everyday. Been feeling like I'm stuck in a dead end job.

If you don't mind me asking the branch of PKU kindergarten?

This is upsetting to hear. We are about to sign with them. Any chance we can talk to you over the phone or Skype?

PKU College Kindergarten

Hello friends,

I'm posting this as a helpful little warning to any of you who want to work at PKU Kindergarten... Please, for your own sanity- STAY AWAY!

I have been teaching in China for approximately 5 years now, and this contract was the only one I have not been able to complete.

I could not complete my resignation period as it just became impossible to work there after they knew I was leaving.

You will be exhausted and unhappy if you work for this school. The Chinese staff will try make you work as much as possible. They will put their workload on you. They will not assist you in class. You will not be informed of anything until the last minute. You will also be treated differently because you are foreigner and are paid a higher wage than they are. They will not assist you when you need help, and when you ask for help they will treat you like a spoiled child. And when I say they I am not referring to "Chinese" people, I am referring to the school and head office. I have nothing against Chinese (I am happily Married to a Chinese).

Teaching is an amazing career path, but not so amazing if you do it at this school.

Please trust me when I say YOU CAN DO BETTER! Find another job!
No about of money is worth your soul and happiness.
