Heh yes I fell for the 'function, demo, interview' and some even added a '1st day at work' where they kinda get you started on classes but will do the contract and paperwork tomorrow (or someone is sick or dont worry can do on monday).

A version of that same one. A Nanning training center insisted they wanted to hire me but didn't have enough clients yet. Well guess what - they'd call and ask me to come in and interview a prospective new student (who of course would be mine if they sign up). The 'get to know you' chat would end up being over an hour (once almost 2 hours!).

So needless to be said here - you go home and never have any new part-time job at that school. I later found out they were doing this with many different would-be foreign teachers! After 2 or 3 times of course you stop going but by then they find a new sucker. So the school basically just gets free foreign teaching staff rotating.

But yes I've fallen for the 'function, demo, interview' scam and mainly because I can't believe anyone would be so dishonest as to actually do that again. You can say I'm too trusting and took me a while to figure out this is just a standard sneaky lying Chinese trickery common in Nanning as if 'just another day at the office'.
