In response to Re YLingo! Shanghai Tutoring Expat Network (Jonathan)

Seems like an old thread, but if I can help in any small way in saving trouble to future au pairs and making sure those dishonorable thieves scam less people I'll go for it. I have to second what Jonathan said, in fact, not only did I never get the completion bonus, but I didnt get the refunds for the plane tickets either (which they claim to cover) !

The family I got to was fine so nothing against them, but I agree that Jane is incredibly unhelpful, unprofessional and incompetent (even though I got some vague assistance with the visa). I had similar problems of her avoiding my emails and calls whenever I needed her in any way to basically...just do her job or honor her engagements/promises and responsabilities.

So even if you talk to her and she seems alright while you're in your country, which I actually did that mistake even after reading this very thread thinking that she seemed reliable enough on Skype and so maybe this was just some good ol' internet trolling (sorry Jonathan for my initial mistrust of your post)...DO NOT trust her because she'll turn her back on you once you're in Shanghai and she leeched what she wanted (the money from the family and your time).

P.S. Lets end on a positive note though, I still recommend the Au pair experience as it is great fun to move to an other country, learn an extra language and have tons of cool new experiences. Just do yourself a favor and find a reliable Agency (i.e. NOT Ylingo/aupair4china).
