Re Le Waijiao online school - TAL Group

In fact looking at what they say and the volume of applicants, some simple arithmetic and common sense tells us they won't be paying everyone for this training.

Lets say there are 20 applicants, there were about 30 I think in mine but lets say 20.

They have about 3 trainings per week so that's 20x3=60

They say that they pay these trainings at 13$ per hour and you will be training for a duration of 6 hours in all over 2 days.

6x13=78

So lets put that together.

78$x60=4,680$ - Per week!! Business outgoings. I don't think I need to say much more because the figures speak for themselves.

It is more likely in my opinion that they use the offer of paying you to do the interview/training as a way of getting a lot of recruits, the proverbial carrot. Bait and switch, see what is left hanging around after taking a large slash on you from a great height and if you are still standing there with your mouth wide open, licking your lips and begging for more then they will hire you because you have proven yourself to be a lacky. It is one sure fire way of hiring and abusing that which you want while abusing and casting aside that which you don't with the least risk. No one is going to bother chasing up these people for the sake of a few dollars, it is written off as a lesson learned and people move on.

Avoid, and stay sharp.

In complete agreement here. I would say there is little said about them so far because they are a relatively new venture I think.

You will do an interview with a five minute demo to someone who barley speaks English. You will be asked to agree to an hourly pay rate almost straight away, even though their emails about their policies state that this is decided after your final demo.

You will attend a two day training. The first day is really about watching a couple of videos and someone talking to you about corporate company culture. Do and don't, Chinese cultural differences a little etc. etc. and an intro to their chosen software platform.

The whole thing is very disorganized like a cattle market. There will be about 35 people in your Skype group which seems to whittle down to a handful by the next day.

Next day consists of your 15 minute demo. You will be told that you will receive an email within 72 hours. This will be an extremely negative approach, informing you that your demo was 'okay' or 'satisfactory' - My God those are words you use when trying to be polite to someone you are about to fire!!!

The entire thing seems to be to string everyone along for as long as possible so that the only people remaining are those who will clearly put up with having the piss taken out of them, hence still being there and have agreed to a lower rate of pay than advertised.

I have no idea if they pay 15 as other have said below, or if they have the paid hours they promise either as I chose NOT to continue after the first day. It is a joke and pretty clear that they only wish to take advantage of you not being in a position to sue them or take any legal action whatsoever without extreme cost and difficulty. It is hard enough to do this when you are actually in China but possible so some don't risk it. Online teaching opens up a whole new area for the crap chinglish holes and you bet that they are gonna take FULL advantage of this while they can.
