Absolutely! And not an insult to just a 40yo, but for anyone!
6500 is a bit low too, but definitely acceptable, especially since most recruiting companies hire for part-time (15 hours), with accommodations provided.
But if you are around 40 or above and have retirement and savings in mind, you are very capable of finding a higher-paid job. You will need to work more hours, but that's how it is in the working world.
