Another point I will make is that Herr Dr has said if any ex TC employee is after a job at an educational establishment where he is part of the selection panel, he will do his best to prevent said jobseeker getting said job. No exceptions, not even gullible/greedy newbies whose first position in China was teaching at a language mill! Prejudice, I'd say!

Yes, that's what I have said several times. However, I would not be alone as other members of the the selection committee would follow the same guidelines and standards. Hence, there is nothing "haughty" or "elitist" about it; it's just following professional and academically sound standards.

A job applicant with just one teaching job at a TC on his/her CV should not be rejected on that basis alone. Too harsh imo!

After posting a job ad for an ESL Lecturer position for our College in Switzerland, I received many applications from people who even did not meet the minimum requirements stated in the job ad. There are a lot of people out there who do not seem to read a job ad in it entirety and hence would only waste my time when sending their application package.

Obviously, unless you have no qualifying applicants at all!

The criterion I have for selecting the right candidate for any job position offered is this: Does the applicant meet the the minimum formal requirements or even has got to offer more and inhowfar does his personality match with his qualifications and the requirements we have in terms of work ethics?

Correct procedure!

The ESL industry is full of low-life individuals in countries like China. That's why I want to be careful and would not agree to hire just anyone; those with a history in working for training centres often do not meet the requirements we have. Putting such applications aside and not listing them for an interview saves time and makes the pre-selection process faster and less time-consuming.

Agreed!
