OP's school/city/nation truly isn't much different from what's around the world except that the ratio of such behaviors there and in some other places/countries around there may be a bit higher than in the US or Canada. Media in Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia or China is uncomparable to the blood thirsty American or even Canadian respective outlets. Anyhow, elections in most of the states in case aren't as much about money as they are in the US where money from all sorts of groups and from around the world flood the political campaigns prior to the elections there. This is why the Canadian elections are more genuine than the ones south of the border there and this is why the, for instance, Jordanian culture is so much more original and painful to us all than the one of places which we're used to. Most importantly on the topic, I empathize with the OP.

A quick google search of 'Chinese student murdered in the U.S.' will generate far more fatalities per annum. Anecdotal evidence can be found to generate any belief and any emotion. Every country has its racist thugs. Certainly China has its share. In the U.S., we elect ours President.
