It was a learning experience. Because of Mingshi, I learned how to avoid certain schools. I left Mingshi, sent out resumes the same day, and by the next morning I had a new job, new school, and I didn't look back. Thank you Mandy Meng for showing me what utter crap of a school can be in China. In China, it varies so much.

At this school I had to take a taxi with 3 other teachers in the morning. This took about 20 minutes for everyone to meet up, and then another 20-30 minutes to get to the morning school. Instead of sending 2 teachers for the whole day, they would then bring all 4 back and we would have to do the same with a second school in the afternoon because, "The school only has English at a certain time."

That was her reasoning. Well, that eats up at least 2 hours a day of the teachers' time just commuting. Completely unnecessary. And then she wanted me to teach at 10am on Sunday, one class, and then wait until 4pm for a second class. When I asked, "Ok, you want me to start the school day at around 9am with your school, come back home around 6pm and only put in 2 class hours that day. What do I do between those classes, and on a Sunday?" she laughed.

I remember the cockroaches in the apartment, the sticky walls in the kitchen, and the horrid sewer smell from the bathroom. There was crap running down a hill each morning on my way to meet up with the other 3 teachers.

They were gung ho over this type of job though. They had their faces plastered on ads at bus stops and were completely clueless to the ESL teaching world. If you are thinking of going to this school, don't. If you are really that interested stop by on a tourist visit, take one look at the city of squalor and run!!!

I have lived in rural areas before and this was completely the worst. If you sign a contract and get a Z visa there, then sucks to be you. I told you so.
