Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute / Xianyang - Shaanxi

Be aware of these people as they tendency not to be honest in terms of business. If you are a native speaker of English with a degree
do not even think about working for them as you can do much better.

If you do for some unknown reason want to do businesses with them remember to be very assertive when negotiating a contract I know this from personal experience. As they advertised the position for 4,000 Yuan a month however, upon arrival they stated that the salary was only 3,000 Yuan a month as that was what all new teachers are paid. Regretfully due to limited options, I agreed to these terms.

However, with in a few months another teacher arrived who was subsequently paid 4,000 Yuan a month, as she was reluctant to stay due to apprehension about living in China.

Towards the middle of my contract I was approached about resigning by both Miss Ma and Miss Zhou/Summer with comments like you do an "excellent job" and you are a "very responsible teacher" the amount and extent of this ongoing flattery for me to resign was actually sickening. Miss Zhou/Summer made the claim that if I resigned the school would pay me 4,000 Yuan a month, which would require her to approach the financial department to get special approval to pay me 4,000 Yuan a month. Which was a complete farce, as I knew my co-worker was already being paid 4,000 YUAN a month.

However when I approached Summer towards the end of my contract and asked why I was being paid less than my co-worker she turned completely savage contradicting everything she had said prior. Firstly contradicting all earlier flattery stating, "I wasn't a good teacher" she also contradicted the her story about requiring special authorisation to pay me 4,000 Yuan a month as she said soon after I arrived the decision was made to pay all new teachers 4,000 YUAN a month. If this really was the case, why did she state that she needed special authorisation to resign me?

This was not the only incident of them going back on promises as they promised to pay my co-worker half of her return airfare however towards the end of her contract they stated they could only pay her a quarter. At the same time, they were advertising for four new teachers with a promise of paying reimbursing them a full return ticket.

Soon after leaving them, I gained employment for 5,000 YUAN a month in city with an equally low cost of living and received a 5,000-YUAN bonus after only six months as opposed to the complete lack of bonus paid by Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute after completing a one-year contract.
