Shenzhen City College is a well known fraud among long time China ESL teachers. It is an essentially an agency and once hired, they will front you out, illegally, to all kinds of institutions across and throughout Shenzhen, a huge, sprawling and actually likeable metropolis that shares a border with Hong Kong. In spite of what they may claim, they cannot deliver Z visas and force their teachers to make risky and bimonthly trips across the border, by subway, to Hong Kong, to obtain new fraudulent visas.

I generally refrain from commenting upon schools in China as there often two sides to the story. I personally never worked for Shenzhen City College but my best friend and his wife did. They were eventually picked up by the PSB for working in the country on illegal visas. They were remanded to prison for about ten days, as they did not have the money for the fine. They were deported and banned from China for five years. Their biometrics were taken so that they could not just not obtain new passports and return. Shenzhen City College just turned a blind eye to their problems, problems created by Shenzhen City College.

There are numerous legit job opportunities in Shenzhen and in Guangzhou. Unless you are truly a high risk taker, and unless you do not mind sitting in a Chinese jail, being forced to pay for your meals while in jail, being forced to pay for your exit visa, and being forced to pay for your deportation through Hong Kong, I would suggest you avoid this school.
