I worked here years ago. The management were incompetent, petty and nasty. Also they were full of double-standards. They were happy not honour their side of the contract but if I was late I got fined in accordance with the contract.
Tell me about the international branch. What curriculum are they offering?

Wow I love the kitchen. That is absolutely suitable for a family. Also the fact that it's so clean makes it even more awesome. Wow they really value their teachers. Yeah i was in Huangqi. We had a Mr Oxford there known as Niel. He is a local celebrity but when you walk past him and greet him he makes a funny little sound like hehe and carries on walking. Super legend guy, when I saw him in the local store in the complex where we both lived he would stare at the chocolate section like he's never seen it before, for ages. I thought it odd cous it happened every time and he's been there for 14 years and is rather over weight so I'm assuming he knows that section quite well. Even bought a big box once in an effort to ignore us. Then when I walk up and say hi he looks like he's offended or really surprised to see me and kinda awkwardly stands there...yeah a true Oxford man. Im not an awkward or unsociable guy but...wow. We never made a connection. After the first little strange sound on our first meeting it pretty summed the dude up. I would feel sorry for him but he was one of those doosh losers. I can pretty much be friendly with anyone and always make a point of inviting all sorts to the party but there are exceptions. Bloody stupid school - he's got a degree from Oxford!! Yea ahem. Okay.

I was at school in the UK with a guy named Richard Richardson. Ever heard of Maurice Morris? Some parents have a sense of humour. My ex missus used to trawl the "hatches, matches, and dispatches" column in our local newspaper looking for funny names of newly married women.
I remember a woman called Wendy married a guy named Hendy and became Wendy Hendy, another became Shirley Wyrley, lol. I also remember a really old couple who were getting married - Tommy Fuller and Fanny Brown. Tommy said he couldn't wait to make her Fanny Fuller, haha.

Here is a picture of the living quarters.
'Kitchen' with no stove or cooking equipment. Washing machine that doesn't work and when repairs takes no more than 5 items of clothing and also toilet - doesn't work - you guessed it. Toilet seat broken and toilet doesn't flush.
All topped of by being super filthy.
Yes this is a fully furnished - western style apartment perfectly suited for a young family.
Ladies and gentalmen - this school is a shitty sham.

This is the kitchen laundry and bathroom.
No stove or anything else in the 'kitchen' besides the fact that it's filthy.
The washing machine doesn't work and when it's fixed it can't take more than 5 items of clothing - literally.
Oh and the toilet also doesn't work.
Go work for Shimen middle school, they really value their foreign teachers.

Fuckers said they would pay me before I left the country, then deposit the money into my account the following month.
Now nothing.
Oh and they can't send money via western union cous they don't have a 'western union account' idiots. High level of intelligence there.

Did they keep "fining" you for "breaching" the contract? I found that they would fine me for say being 3 or 4 minutes late to class but they failed to honour my contracts on several fronts ie they provided me no Chinese lessons as required per contract and they made me work more hours than stated in my contract. However I received no compensation for the school's breaches. Such double standards.

I also had a miserable experience with the school. It cost me more to work for them than the money I made. Also I watched as they threw away everything I had bought for the year so its clear the next teacher will have to buy all their own plates, knives, forks etc. I had a whole lot of baking stuff. All gone in the bin. Truly legendary in the ranks of shitty Chinese school. Couldn't be happier to see the back of them. They ripped me off, lied to me and cheated me from literally the day I arrived to the day I left. God help anyone who works for these con artists.

OMG, I am so glad someone opened this thread.
The most atrocious thing happened to me in this school.
The apartment as Dave said was appalling so I was forced to rent outside, also no living allowance compensation from the school.
Here is the thing though, the woman who was supposed to be helping us, I now we are not supposed to use names so I will just call her J.
Anyway, she was insisting that we make extra copies of the apartments keys. The apartment had two doors, one outside and on inside. The outside door had a few copies to use but the inside door had only one and we couldn't find a locksmith that was able to copy it. Some copy proof/pick proof key.
Eventually I gave up but also didn't want her to have a copy as she had lied about almost everything to that point I couldn't trust her. One copy was enough.
One day J was in the apartment to sort out some of the appliances that were faulty. I thought it strange as she was very eager to help and getting her to help was like drawing blood from a stone.
The thing is after she left I realized the keys were missing along with an access card.
I turned the apartment upside down, looked under everything. That was months ago. The key never turned up and I had the locks changed.
There is something very dodgy about the school and it's administration.
If I could advise anyone on what not to do in China it would be to avoid Shimen Moddle school like the plague.
The school is dishonest, dishonorable and not something any Forigner should get involved with.

I also worked for Shimen Middle School and had a similar experience.
The schools management - what they call leaders are incompetent and nasty people. Who ever gave these people power over foreign teachers needs to be sacked.
If I had to go through the everything the school did that was unacceptable this would be a very long message.
However I will say one thing, this school should not be allowed to recruit foreign teachers. They treat them worse than Chinese dogs which in case you have not visited china sit outside on the street in cages waiting to be boiled alive to sustain the Chinese race.
It is very sad that a government school can stoop so low as there are many jobs with government institutions that treat their teachers respectfully.
This is is my last year in China - as my friend used to say - China wins again.

I worked at Shimen Experimental Primary School in my first gig in 2006/07. There are several Shimens. Is this school in nanhai? Which school exactly? High or Middle or Primary? Also is it in Shishan or Nanhai?

What is the name of the person you dealt with in the agency? I remember when I worked in Shimen Primary School, which is the sister of Shimen Middle, I had to pay for my visa and found the management to be very petty, incompetent and nasty. For example if I was 5 minutes late I'd be penalised according to the contract and "fined" 100RMB and once I lost my monthly "bonus" because I took a sick day and "failed to inform them the day before". How I wish I could predict being sick!
At the same time I was made to work 3 hours more per week than was in my contract without overtime pay and I was promised 3 hours of Chinese lessons per week in my contract but got nothing. Of course I was never compensated for the school's breaches. I was immature at 21 when I arrived and if I was in that situation now I would walk without question.
Which campus are you at? Huangqi or Shishan? Also are you in the middle or senior high school?
Please be warned and aware that no joy will come from taking a job with this school.
They will tell you there is no way to send you photos of the accommodation but that it is top class.
However expect to fork out for a hotel until the school finds you a heavily overpriced apartment that I suspect make a deal with the school and some of the rent money goes to them.
If you are prepared to sleep in public toilets then the apartment would be suitable and acceptible.
They will ask you to work extra hours without pay.
In general what the contract says is very different. Working hours, pay and accommodation.
The school will not negotiate or even let you out of the contract.
If you want to work for a communist style slave driver school then this is the best place for it.
If you want to be treated like an insignificant fool this is the place.
This is not my first job in China but is by far the worst I have been treated in my whole life.
Don't trust them. Just stay away. There are much better jobs available.
They work with a recruiting company called Fartop.
I'm not sure who decided to scam us but they seem to know exactly what they doing.
