"That's because you are doing what dodgy recruiters do here, namely receiving introduction fees for supplying foreign teachers to any old educational establishment requiring them."
unconvinced

I'm not a great fan of recruiters. Who would be in this environment? On the other hand, I see no reason to disparage an FT who occasionally helps their school find a suitable teacher. Nor do I see a problem with getting paid for such an endeavor. I doubt if there are many FTs in China who, if offered a substantial fee to help recruit a teacher, would pass on the opportunity to collect that fee.

Imagine a scenario where you happen to know a teacher looking for a trustworthy position and you happen to be working for a school where the sailing has been fairly smooth. If your employers offer you a headhunters fee for helping them, are you going to pass it up? I doubt it seriously. I wouldn't, and neither would many other FTs I know. By the way, the international college where I'm currently employed offers 5000 kwai for such a service. I don't go out of my way to find teachers for them, but I have been in contact with prospective teachers and wouldn't feel the least bit guilty were they to come here to work. Nor would I feel that by accepting a placement fee I should suddenly be accused of rubbing elbows with recruiters.

Comparing foreign teachers who help their schools find suitable teachers to recruiters who will say and do anything to pull down some hefty fees is like comparing apples to oranges. Personally, I have found that Mr. Latimer's posts have been honest and forthright; moreover, he seems like someone I'd be happy to work with. I'd have a hard time saying that about many of the other posters here who are so given to embittered and invective attacks that they can't be bothered with giving someone the benefit of the doubt.
