So, what does that mean? Does it mean that in some provinces they are aware that there is a law or regulation that clearly states that foreign teachers should be closely monitored, but in other provinces they are not aware of that law? Or does it mean that the education level of some PSB directors is so low that they can't determine what the law is? Or does it mean their computer software is so out of date that they can't find out what the law of the land is regarding foreign teacher's behavior and that, therefore, they can't be held accountable for any breach of law committed by said foreigners? Whereas, if it can be proven that PSB software is up to date, then they will be held accountable?

Needless to say, I'm still perplexed. Am I breaking the law if I have a Chinese girl in my apartment in Province X, but not breaking the law if a Chinese girl is in my apartment in Province Y? Is the PSB violating my rights by monitoring my activities via CCTV in Province A but not violating my rights if they do so in Province B? What are the conditions under which I am legally within my rights by demanding a certain degree of privacy? Where can I draw the line? Is there a line that I can draw?

By the way, thanks, Turnoi, for sharing your experience in this regard; hopefully, though, someone can actually shed some light on this subject for us.

And Mary, please keep the question of Christianity and how the authorities deal with it as a separate thread. I don't fault you for your interest in antiquated belief systems, but it really has nothing to do with my query. Or, maybe it does, but personally, well, just not interested.
