Certainly, but that teacher can lose all that respect in 5 minutes. You have to keep working at it.
Turn up for class stinking of booze, smoking in the building, complaining incessantly about early morning classes, and insulting your T/As can instantly erode all that respect. Chinese Teachers and students do talk to each other, you know.
