All-knowing JN, please enlighten us, especially those considering future ESL employment in China, how to be fully "prepared." I'd love to know! I read dozens of books about Chinese culture before arriving, and while they were moderately useful, NOTHING could have possibly prepared me for what I encountered once I arrived.

Corrpution certainly exists in my home country of America, but I think most Americans cannot possibly fathom the onmipresent level of corrpution, public filth, outragoeus public behavior, deception, cheating, etc. that goes on daily all over China.

Please grace with your "China 101" lecture. I'd love to see just all-encompassing this lesson must be.
