Don't under any circumstances work for Avalon Mapo Campus.
This Hagwon suffers from all the usualu problems of a Korean Private school and many more besides. The list of problems I, and my colleagues, had with this school seem almost endless, but I'll attempt to give a good illustration of the working conditions there:

- On my first day one of the Korean co teachers attempted to start a fight with me in a school corridor for no reason other than to try and assert his authority over the foreign teachers. No punitive action was taken against him.
- My girlfriend who also worked there was verbally abused by one of the female Korean teachers. Again the manager stood by, letting this happen and no punitive action was taken.
- We frequently returned to our apartment to find that staff members from the school had been there in our absence without our permission.
- A colleague left and paid $50 to the school to have his apartment professionally cleaned. The school kept the money and did not clean the apartment. My colleague was called a liar for bringing this to the school's attention.
- You frequently have to be in early for various training sessions or parent meetings. These are almost always a waste of time and you will not be paid for attending.
- The school demands that you attend two hours before your first lesson to 'prepare'. This time is unpaid and not part of your contract. If you resist you are immediately threatened with dismissal or to have monies deducted from your pay-check.
- Colleagues who have left have often been owed money in the form of deposits and severance pay and have had difficulty in claiming all of this money back.

I could go on, but I won't for now. In all I would say that the school goes out of its way to make its staff miserable. There are many better jobs out there, underno circumstances take one with this terrible outfit.
