SCHOOLS AND RECRUITERS REVIEWS

I've been working part-time at one of the branches of Manhattan Kid's Club and I've had no problems whatsoever. Yes, the guidelines to the lessons are the same though that comes with the territory.

At first the staff were slightly stand-offish. That may be because they're used to people coming and going who have nothing to do but complain (justified or not). If anything, almost immediately, the staff became extremely helpful and friendly. Granted, that was probably from how nice I was to them, but still - no complaints there.

I've been paid on time and rightfully penalised for being late. Hell, I wouldn't want my employees being late either - they're paying you to be there at times you've agreed to before signing the contract. I do agree though that they penalise excessively.

I don't see what this whole "childish management" thing is about though that may be because I haven't wanted or needed to introduce change or anything else. Can anyone be more specific with regards to what was/was not being done that made you feel like the place is being run by kids? I haven't had anyone coming in and out of classes.

Almost all of the assistants seem truly willing to help me if help is ever needed and to look after the kids. For those who aren't, I don't blame them, considering what they've told me they're all getting paid (though their contracts do state that they must genuinely like and be willing to help the kids so that voids most reasons for not doing so, I think).

To be fair, I can understand that it would be frustrating wanting to introduce something new and always having it blown off, though I don't think that's a fair enough reason to call MKC terrible. If anything, it just limits the scope of the children's English. Even so, their English progresses nicely. Besides, this can be overcome (I always manage to introduce something extra into every lesson so the kids can at least look at things differently - more like that of a first language speaker).

Lastly, if you're going to criticise the school at least back up your huge, sweeping statements with reasons. If anything, if what you say is true, it will at least allow people to make a more informed decision about why NOT to teach here. I, for example, find late pay or missing pay unacceptable but couldn't care less if I had to work on weekends for parties.

Hope that helps.
