Crap schools generally offer foreigners crap contracts to sign. And the directors have set out all the contract clauses in the first place. Clauses that compromise foreigners' human rights by stipulating that foreigners must refrain from having a romance with a fellow teacher who is Chinese are ridiculous and unjust. School directors are the culprits here and cannot be likened to Australian hooligans on a beach. Let's compare like with like, not like with unlike! IMO, it's far more serious that a Chinese school director is trying to tamper with foreigners' rights just because they are his employees and are foreigners than what has happened on an Aussie beach, where the racial trouble was instigated by drunken, uneducated morons.
However, I couldn't support the comment you made in another of your posts that there's nothing wrong with an FT having a romance with a student at his school whom he doesn't teach. I regard that as taboo! And I think that most of our fellow FT's would too.
