Firstly min I have been following this post closely, and no where did I see Adrian say he was 52. Someone thought he was in his 50's, and someone else took that as gospel and said he was in his 50's, and then others started to say it, without reading every response to the original post. No where did Adrian give his actual age, it was an assumption one person made that got picked up by others who failed to read everything posted about this subject. That being the case, your calling Adrian a liar in this regard is wrong, and you should apologize.

Next is the visa issue. It took me about 5 minutes using google to find out that all you have to do is apply for a waiver and often the government will grant a school an exception and let them hire someone over the age of 60. I am not surprised you did not look into this. School owners or those who run them are usually very lazy people, who know far less about how the laws in China work than foreigners do. However if you are a foreigner, you really should have known better and looked into this. Like I said, it took me less than 5 minutes to discover this. However, if you don't know about such things as waivers, well the government will not tell you. They will only say you can not hire this person as they are over 60. They are trying to faze out long time teachers here who have lived here for too long, hence they won't help you to circumvent and get an exception to this law, a law which is loosely enforced at best. It was you, and more importantly your husbands job to know these things. That you are so incompetent and ill prepared that you did not look into this matter at all says a lot.

I am also curious as to why "you" are here telling us all these things, and not your husband? After all, he is the big wig, the head honcho, the boss, is he not? Why isn't he here defending himself? I have little faith in the words of lackeys, or spouses. If he wants to defend himself, he should come here himself. Or is he too ashamed to? I would be also if I was making such mistakes, mistakes that make a person look pretty dumb.

Maybe you should read all the responses here as well before you start calling people liars. I don't see anywhere that Adrian lied, however I was not so lazy, and I read all of the responses so as to be well informed before I gave an opinion an anything.

I am well aware that there are age limits, and had someone 65 or 66 years old contacted me and asked for work, the first thing I would have done was use the internet to check the laws in my province; s you know they differ a great deal from place to place. Maybe you don't know this.

It might also be a good idea "not" to type all of your messages to this board with the caps lock on. Besides just being a real headache to read, and looking infantile, it also gives one the impression that you are quite angry and telling, something that doesn't add to your credibility, of which you have very little.

Face facts, you and your husband are incompetent, and really should not, in my opinion, be running a school, or a pop stand even. If you don't know the most basic facts that an administrator should be aware of, how exactly can you do your job well? I am guessing whoever you found to do the job is not only much younger, "hooray" but is also far less experienced, "not hooray", and is getting far less money "hooray". You really need to learn how to prioritize, because that money you saved is nothing compared to what you will likely loose because you did not hire someone far more qualified, and all because you were not "aware of your legal recourse in the matter.

I say avoid this place, mainly because people who know so little and are so ill equipped to do their job would be a nightmare for anyone but a lackey type person to deal with I think.
