And another thing, what's Adrian playing at applying for a Chinese F visa for hiself and his wife when he intends to teach for payment in China? Just like quite a number of other posters on the board, he only posts half a story. So, I've no sympathy at all for him re the Shaoxing debacle!

Oldtimer, what does it matter if he was getting an F visa? This as you know is common practice in China, even now. He also stated that it would be changed upon arrival into a Z visa. Schools do this to save money, time, and paperwork, as it is easier to get it done if the person is already here in China. He also said he would be arriving a full month ahead of time, hence by the time he was getting paid he would essentially be on the proper visa. This isn't even an issue though, since for one thing the school demanded it. You are again knit picking to try and sully a persons character. I find this absurd. Not that I think Adrian didn't make some rather glaring mistakes, he did. I also have to question just how learned he is to have made such. That said, none of that is relevant, and I"m sure you know it. Bottom line, the school messed up, and that's why everything came crumbling down, the visa type slotted for his arrival had nothing to do with it.

Some little known facts about F visas. They are not illegal to work on, or be paid on even, as long as you are working in business as a consultant, which he would have been helping them build a school. This applies if you are being paid in China. You can work legally anywhere in China and have an F visa "if" you get paid outside of China, meaning into a bank account not in this country. As I have said in other posts in regard to other things, there have been loopholes purposely created so such things "can" legally be circumvented. If you are not being paid within the PRC then no law is being broken. I think it would be rather easier for a school, any school, to deposit payment electronically into your bank in your home country.

Why don't schools more often then not take advantage of such loopholes to employ more foreigners legally without having to worry about legal problems with things such as degrees and proper Z visas? Because they are stupid, like our Indian couple who know just as little about visas and running a school.

Stupid people often run the world simply because of who they know, sad but true.
