Monitor and Turnoi sound like a honeymoon couple out of an African jungle. The fact is that "a minefield" has become the internet (recruiting sites) as well as many employers on mainland China, not only the private language centers. For foreign teachers on mainland, the terms of their contractual agreements and working conditions have greatly deteriorated in past 10 or so years, although some EFs attempt to keep the FT contracts more pro than many other employers around. There are apparently a few EF centers owned by the Shanghai headquarters now. These ones are supposed to lead by examples of the EF so called western education as THE EDUCATION has been so much replaced by local business minds. I don't believe Xi'an has an EF owned by the local headquarters, but it may have its franchisee sucking it up. There's always a "reward" from the local headquarters that seek a peaceful royalty fee collection and no behind the back EF cloning. Local EF franchisees have been a real issue for FTs as they have taken advantage of the corrupt company franchisors. Many foreign employees in leadership positions either in headquarters or in individual centers are only puppets that come and go. The longer "serving" ones are usually playing it better, and so hurting their FTs more. Also, there are some "foreign rats" working as Directors of Studies around the company's franchised centers on mainland. These you may not be able to see until the lightning strikes you. So, if you decide to join this company, I wish you good luck and an x-ray vision. Remember that one local employer may easily and unreasonably put you on a "fortunate list" of the FTs that will neither be able to futher qualify for the honorable work at any EFs nor qualify for your future amazing "expert status" on mainland China. Not much to lose but if you develop a social network and plan to stay on for longer...
