In response to Re Web Quanzhou (MEGAN GEORGE)

Thank you for replying. Regarding the visa, I know someone who did have their tourist visa changed to a work visa and was told it was quite common(to go to HK and re-entering).

Many things are quire common, doesn't mean I"d recommend such things. Yes it's common and it's also against the law, and expensive. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that last little tidbit about web, and other private training centers asking you to come on a tourist visa. You "will" have to go to HK to get it turned into the proper visa and work papers, and who do you think pays for that. Bingo, you do. Once you are in China, you are responsible for all visa costs. HK is not a cheap place to be. Also, depending on what country you are from, the cost of a visa can be low, or very very high. When combined with the train or plane fare to get there and back, plus accommodations in HK while waiting for your visa, it can be an expensive endeavor.

You must pay for your initial accommodation costs, 3 months rent generally, plane ticket to get there, hotel fee waiting to find a place to live, cost of visa. It all adds up pretty quickly. Not worth it, believe me.

Having said that, I will definitely avoid Web and look at the other options I have again. I've just passed my CELTA so I'm new to all this. I would prefer to work at a kindergarten, high school or university but the recruiter recommended Web. I guess recruiters are hit and miss too....Hmm .... Anyway, thanks again.

Of course the recruiter recommended them, that's a recruiters job. He'd recommend work taking place in a live volcano if it paid him a decent commission. Recruiters are blood thirst, and often times are money suckers. You really don't want to deal with them when finding work, you can easily find your own work online. Recruiters, in my opinion, are a last resort for people who don't have options, such as those without a degree. Even then you have option even if you do lack a degree. I would not use the defense that "the recruiter recommended it" to speak the the quality of the school. They'd recommend teaching at a Taco stand if it paid. Stay away from Web, those kinds of jobs will suck up your entire life here, and they will have extra tasks beyond what you have been told, believe me.

Good luck in your search, I hope you find what you're looking for.
