Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but hopefully I can get an answer :).

I'm not an ESL teacher per se, but I do teach English courses in the States, mostly with online colleges. However, I am currently staying with my family in Israel and I plan on being here for a year or so, possibly more (depending on my parents' health). I am still able to teach online in the States, but I am looking for other opportunities for teaching English in Israel.

A friend of my brother's taught at Berlitz in Tel Aviv/Ramat Gan for a few years back in the 1990's and had great things to say about the experience. He had a blast and liked the fact that it wasn't like a college course (i.e., no grading, no whining students, etc.) He did say that the pay was pretty low but other than that, he enjoyed the experience.

So I'm looking into possibly doing this here in Israel. I still plan on keeping my work from the States (which doesn't pay all that great either), so teaching with Berlitz would really be a way to supplement that income. I do have an advantage that I was born in Israel, so I'm a citizen, and I lived in the country for 15 years (between Israel and the States), so I know the language very well (got my BA here, etc.) So I know the culture and the country well.

I'm curious as to some views on teaching at Berlitz. Specifically, what are the expectations in terms of the teaching and what is the pay like? If anyone has or is teaching there in Israel right now, I'd love to hear about the experiences. Also, I noticed that there seems to be openings with the Virtual Classroom with Berlitz and since I have experience teaching online, I'm curious as to how that works and what the pay is like for the virtual classroom.

Any thoughts and experiences would help!

Djuna
