Ok, maybe our experiences are different, but will everyone's be the same, even in the UK? Some Chinese friends I knew who went to the UK to study hated it, they told me it is a very parochial and racist place, others including one girl I knew who married a guy in Newcastle loved it and had nothing but praise for British life, so I guess it is swings and roundabouts??!!

I will concede to that, you have made some good points. Going off on a slight tangent, I find it really annoying when the odd FT has had a good experience at a crappy school like York School but completely disregards the plight of other FT's, probably the majority-they then go on to writing posts (like pretend Tom in this thread) saying what a lot of ill-informed bitchers we all are and what a fine school 'tis.

It is actually possible to have a good time with a bad employer, you could be one of twenty or more FT's working for the same outfit-quite by chance you are given a good flat where by good fortune everything works-more good luck follows, they send you to teach their only reasonable classes. They forget to fiddle you. So, your experience is totally different to that of the other 19 teachers.

I have been in the situation of being one or two of the lucky FT's employed by a bad school but I never took the 'I'm alright Jack' selfish stance. I mean, when we attack rubbish outfits like York, you don't see twenty or more of their teachers offering posts of support-one or two maybe, laced by fake ones written by the Chinese bosses or their lackeys, in English that clearly hasn't been written by a Brit or an American whatever.

Shame on these "I'm alright Jack FT's.
