Laowai In China - 2004-11-18

MJ Sutton,

On November 18 you wrote of me "in hopes to discredit us when the only one being discredited is you."

The irony is that, in all likelihood, your two posts on this forum have probably contributed more to the discredit of Wancheng than anything I have written, and I'm quite certain that you are ignorant of such probability.

I am equally certain that I do not need to point out to other readers of this forum the many incomprehensions contained in your post, so this response is basically for your sole benefit.

To recap my November 16 post, I wrote that the following (text) was a TRANSCRIPT of a reference given to me by the SCHOOL where Wancheng placed me. I also identified the school as being Luxian High School No: 1.

(Note: Wancheng employ foreign teachers and then places them, sub-contracts them out, with schools and universities. Salary and employment contract matters are between the teacher and Wancheng, not the teacher and the school).

So, in response to your latest post;

1. You never recieved (sic) a refrence (sic) letter from us.

I never said I did!

2. There is no MRS (sic) Huang in our company.

I never said there was! She works at Luxian High School No: 1.

3. this (sic) letter was written for a girl (hence the note "in HER teaching ability") unless you changed sexes in the past year this letter was not yours.

Mrs Rong used the masculine pronoun 5 times, and the feminine pronoun once (for which I alluded to the mistake by using the adverb 'sic'). 5 references to a man, 1 reference to a woman but, in your logic, the letter was written for a woman?

4. A note to all of you, any letter; refrence (sic) or other (sic) from ANY company will have a red stamp over the signature.

MJ Sutton, I said it was a TRANSCRIPT. Do yourself a favour; run out and by an English dictionary and then look-up the word 'transcript'.

5. 4. The director, foreign affairs officer, and recruiter for this company are foreigners. That letter was written by a Chinese person.

Yes, the letter was written by a Chinese person. Her name is Mrs Huang Rong and she is the Foreign Affairs Officer of Luxian High School No: 1 where Wancheng assigned me to teach.

And finally, "I hope everyone who reads your post reads it as close as I did."

Hmmm. What can I say?

MJ Sutton, I look forward to reading your further response.
