SCHOOLS AND RECRUITERS REVIEWS

Simon Whittaker - 2005-01-29

This is a warning against the shool's misleading adverts:
My wife and I Simon Whittaker both worked at Kuwait
National English School from September to November 2004.
The school is NOT accredited (rather the management
here forces staff to additional non-educational work
towards the goal of accreditation - the primary reason so many staff have left this year).
The Special Educational Needs department involves baby-sitting rather than real SEN work (my wife worked inthe department)and very few of the staff are qualified.
The management style at the school is extremely severe involving abusive threats, public humiliation of locally hired staff and the use of 'financial
sanctions' (deductions from salaries).
The mainstream children are a collection of those
rejected by all the other international schools in
Kuwait (though I found most of them well behaved).
Lastly I must mention the Director Madame Chantal.
She is a despotic French lady (my wife is French, much to her embarassment whilst working at KNES), living most of the year in France. However all decisions are sent through her, making the general running of the school almost impossible for the senior/middle level management.
It was all in all an extremely unpleasant experience for both of us, although we related to the children very well.
