SCHOOLS AND RECRUITERS REVIEWS

I agree about how bad BKL is. When I worked for BKL, (i.e. Kenny [edited] who is Taiwanese), he changed his assistant every month, and it was always their fault I wasn't paid on time. It took me until April to get paid for December, and I did not receive any of the end of contract bonuses obviously, and he didn't pay me for the time I worked in February at all, and he was keeping over 60% of what the school was paying them. I have never met someone so conniving, to always make out it is not his fault and to rip off so many, and lie so well like it's second nature to him. The school I worked for paid me for the time that BKL didn't. I feel sorry for the school because they were ripped off and scammed also.

In the contract it said, expert certificate, and working visa, among other things. And I had to travel to Chongqing to get it. They made me take a 30 hour bus trip because they told me PSB had my passport and they couldn't send it back to me to get a flight (A 2 hour flight just 100RMB more than the bus). Then when I got there they had my passport in the office and I had to go to the PSB with them. Then I was told it will take 2-3 weeks to get the visa, maybe even longer, so in the mean time I should work at a school "close by". I said no, not interested, I just want to return, and if that means by bus I will, but they said just to have a look. "Close" by was a 3 hour drive away. I was told about 40 students per class = 80 to 110 per class. I had lunch and next thing I knew I was left there alone and told to teach. The Foreign English teacher there told me his stories (all bad) and showed me where my visa pick up date was on the receipt which was in 5 days time. I refused to teach, I found my way back to Chongqing on a 3.5 hour bus ride. At midday I received a message to be ready, they will organise me to be picked up some time early next week (now Wed.) I walked into their office at lunch time, and I could see they were surprised. I didn't say a word, maybe I looked a little homicidal at what they did to me, but when he returned I was handed my passport and incorrect visa. I just wanted out of there. I should have refused to work for them on the spot. I was made to stay because it "may takes several weeks, they may want to see you again", the truth was they couldn't get anyone to teach at the school "close by" so were trying to force me to. Good thing was I was told I made him "lose face" with the school.

The contract also said nearest big city was Hangzhou, (30 minutes away), and yet I ended up in Wenzhou. There was nothing in the contract correct.

Just to add a note...I have always left my jobs on good terms, have never had a problem with any one I worked for, and I got along with the school very well who are storing my possessions until I return to China, hopefully very soon. Unfortunately they cannot get me the visa etc required so I cannot work in that school again.

This is also for schools out there that also think they can trust BKL. The school was totally misinformed also.
