Warren, first of all - Raoul is not responsible if your post does not appear on here. He is not related to this board nor does he have any say here. Second, I think it is not a question who wins the argument.

I also largely agree with what you said. This is not Raoul's China Saloon where he is the ultimate authority and makes all final decisions. On the face of it, he should have no control on this board. However, I tried to respond twice to his final refusal to budge, and dismissal of all I've argued. My first response simply disappeared. The second appeared as completely edited. It's a bit odd and I can't figure out any reason why it would happen. In any case, the end result is the same.

I totally agree that it SHOULD NOT be about who wins the argument, or who is right, in which case people should be able to concede when they are wrong about one or more points and not insist on winning by whatever means, including simply restating their original claim.

For whatever reason, my two well reasoned posts with evidence to once again dismantle Raoul's statements in defiance of the facts and reality were erased. Illogical assertion stands as the final outcome.

So now I will concede to the Rule of Raoul:

University teachers in China should accept a 10 month contract, or even a four month contract for a single term, because they should only be paid for their actual in class teaching hours. This is normal, and has always been the case. So, as Raoul advised, if you want to work for a public university, be prepared to live off of your savings over the summer or to take on another teaching position, such as working at a Summer Camp. If you don't like this, you can't fight it in China because there is no logic or reason, and you will only hurt yourself if you search for it or try to negotiate on this one. If you don't like this deal, look elsewhere for one you do like or in another country. To argue otherwise is to have a sense of entitlement. You don't deserve summer holidays!

Cheers.
