I am here to have an easier life: Lots of pretty girls, having a good time at nice bars and restauraunts that are cheap by Western standards, eating jiaozi, having a few cold beers after work. Anything more than 16 actual teaching hours a week is slavery.

Scott exhibits a typical GW in China attitude: He thinks foreigners in China should work as hard as they did when they were back home.

Well, why should we? I will not work 50 hours a week ( teaching hours and office hours ) to make some rubbish private school owner in China become wealthy. Why should I bust my gut so some crook can drive around in a Mercedes and brag about how "smart" he is?

I can't disagree with anything in your posting, it's all dead on.

Thing is, I'm not actually lazy, I don't mind 20 contact hours a week at my public gig say, and then doing some private one on one tuition with Chinese people who are interested to learn, monotonous though it is.

Scott as you say exhibits the GW attitude of we should work harder, if we don't we are lazy complainers, because we aren't making the likes of him and his boss richer, pathetic!
