Hi Djuna,

I just came across your post and would be happy to answer your questions/concerns. My name is Amal and I have been a teacher of Helen Doron English in Israel for over 12 years after moving here from Canada. I really love teaching with this company, as you get results. The kids REALLY learn to speak English and they have a great time doing it as the materials are lots of fun, there is great music and the kids are thrilled, so it is really rewarding. After teaching in public schools, this is a much better deal as you are paid more and the groups are small, so you get to give each child the attention they deserve.

Yes, the training isn’t cheap, but after 7 days of intensive training, you have yourself a career and can start teaching immediately. You also get ongoing training, teacher’s guides, online support, newsletters, conferences and seminars. As the company is international (30 countries) and has been around for almost 30 years, you know you are part of a stable, growing business.

In my own personal case, after a few years I elected to expand and buy a Learning Centre and become a franchisee, but this is only if you want to and are qualified to do so. I don’t like working for others and I still teach as much as I can, but I have teachers working for me and I hear nothing but positive feedback from them, the parents and the children. Sorry to hear whoever you spoke to was aggressive, but I can assure you that it is worth it!
Good luck to you!

Amal
