I do sympathise with you, it is difficult to find work in the UK if you're not qualified. It would be prudent to point out that if teaching is not what you want as a career, if it's not something you love doing and want to spend your life doing, teaching ESL abroad is not the thing for you. It might seem like a good idea, but leaves you with a gaping hole in your CV that an employer in a different field is not going to care about. This is why I don't think you should travel to teach unless teaching is your priority.

It's jolly good to see you back. There seems to be an uneasy quiet at the moment. I hope we are not going from the sublime to the ridiculous, with none allowed to say boo to a goose.

This "if teaching isn't something you love doing" I have trouble with. I suppose I'm only talking about teaching in China, since my experience doesn't extend beyond that-but that's okay because we are only talking about teaching in China. When I first came to China to teach many years ago, I hadn't had any teaching experience at all. It didn't take me very long to dislike being in the classroom intensely; and I've felt that way ever since. However, it didn't stop me being elected top teacher out of some 40 teachers by the time I was doing my second year, working for a busy, dare I say it, nice pristine Training Centre. No, you don't have to enjoy teaching in China at all, as long as you can really enjoy your free time in China. WHAT HAVE I DONE! NOW I'M IN FOR IT.
