'm unsure how you think I am not paying the tax payer back?
Not only did I work in the UK for 6 years before going abroad to teach and pay my own university tuition fees without a student loan, I also currently pay UK tax on my earning while living abroad! So how exactly does that mean I'm not paying back the tax payer?

With respect, London Girl, you are no spring chicken, you are 35 years old. The youngsters that these day have to pay tuition fees, and hardly any of them will end up paying(especially if they cut and run and go abroad, and not earn more than a pittance) were still in nappies when you went to university. The rules had not changed in your day. Or did you beg the university to take your money? Were your A levels so abysmal that you had to do that for them to give you the time of the day? The UK has no machinery or inclination to take your earnings in China into consideration; you are only telling us half the story. I don't doubt you are paying UK tax for some reason. What about your secondary school education which paid for your A levels? Or were you a little rich girl?
