James, I understand your frustration with EF. As a DoS, I was screwed by them big time myself, when after I had put my soul into a couple EF centers my second EF employer announced (in disgruntlement) that we had different views on how to run the operation. The EF headquarters had nothing to say to me and when I posted on the employers' sponsored Dave Sperling's forums about the company, Dave and I were threatened. Mr Sperling most certainly fixed his problem quickly, although I had to seek my new opportunities harder than that. What I want to say here is that it may take some effort to get back on ones feet after a vicious lightning strikes.

Now, I hail you for your attempts, although I've got to say that if you are irrational, the energy, which you put into all this, will more likely be wasted. Modern Chinese learn English to pass exams, and in many cases they want their own to teach them how to pass exams. Have a good look at the educational joints such as for example New Oriental or some IELTS language training providers. See about some fake international schools or uni programs that cater to the needs of locals too. Many current cheaters take a hell lot more from their clients than EF has asked for or pondered. Moreover, many locals want to pass Gao Kao (their college entry tests) which requires the test taking skills rather than the overall ability to use English language. Because it's unpractical and locals trust their own more, Chinese teachers fit in much better than us. Here what I am saying is that we have to adjust our approach and convince the modern Chinese learners that we are worth it and that we are to be trusted. We have to find our channels to get through the thick local air (or skin).

In the end, blacklisting one place or franchise will yield little for there are other corrupt local master minds that'll fill in the gap at any time and anywhere in the country. Sticking together, which you have demonstrated on this topic, may be a great option; however, it's uneasy for the money to be made and there are foreigners who make living out of the misery of other foreigners too.

Cheers and beers to James and all the recruiters that'll really keep 6 for all indecent employment offers
