the folks the employ are normally not the brightest bulbs in the coffee house. So, I highly doubt that they have qualified staff ro offer such training.

That's a very legitimate argument, I had an experience like that with one of my previous employers; it got to the point where I felt that I was personally coaching my teaching supervisor who obviously had far less experience and qualifications than me.

The strange thing is that training centres could actually be very good, if they were run in the correct way. However, I get the general impression that the business aspect of things often overrides the educational aspects; the good genuine staff tend to move on to better employers, people get scammed and the vicious cycle continues.
