Dave John - 2006-06-02

A few weeks ago, I raised doubts about this school operating in Jindezhen. The results of that were two other postings also reporting that Da Yang was a sham school, unlicensed and not authorised to employ foreign teachers. I also had some private responses that were not posted on this forum. The original warning postings still exist on this forum and to find them scroll down the postings to various points during the month of April - look for the name "Da Yang"

Da Yang and Miss Litta are advertising again but this time neither the name Da Yang nor Miss Litta are mentioned in the advertisements. Miss Litta is now using another component of her name - Miss Shao and she does not name her school at all.

Check out her recent advertisements on www.eslteachersboard.com and www.eslemployment.com. Note again the differences in salaries offered and teaching hours required. She does like to confuse us all.

Note that when I recently advertised myself as wanting a summer job, she came out of the blue with an e-mail offer of a permanent job. In this, she confirmed her full name and the name Da Yang - so I know for sure that I am right in posting this warning. Moreover, the terms she offered me are different again from each of the two advertisements I have just mentioned.

Anyone who is in negotiations with Miss Litta Shao and/or with Da Yang in Jingdezhen BEWARE!!! Ask her MANY questions of contractual detail. In particular ask whether she is licensed to operate the school at all and whether the school has authority from the Foreign Affairs Department to directly employ you. Should she claim that she is so authorised, then ask her for the telephone number of her local Foreign Affairs Department Office and the numbers of the relevant authorising documents or certificates. Tell her you intend to verify these (My prediction is that she will drop you on the spot).

Also be very picky when discussing the accommodation she offers. Try asking for a detailed inventory of the contents.

I give you fair warning about this lady and her "school" Check it out really thoroughly.
