Yep, I am just really sick of China and I need a break.

That is how I felt, just felt burnt out and tired of it all. I thought about going back to work in HK and Macau, but there are now too many mainlanders there also for my liking, and those places are now run by Beijing. Eventually they will become nothing more but a part of guangdong province.

That sums up exactly how I felt, and when I mentioned this to fellow brits, I got looked at and called out as mad.GW's/ex cityboy types will always defend their greedy MO, it is why they fit right in.It's not "mad" imho, to expect some change or progress. Nor a better living environment, breathable air, well mannered people, and being treated with respect, instead of condescension. But sadly with 1.3 billion plus people, and the confucian dynamic of the outsider of the group, this will never happen, as you rightly state. City dweller will look down on country dweller, han will look down on tibetan/uighur/japanese/foreigner, official will look down on non official, and so on and so on. I doubt that will ever change.

China is nothing but a money worshipping society nowadays, and money is the only thing at least 95 per of people in this country ever think about

I was watching something on youtube yesterday that got me thinking about this. Someone wrote in china it is the law of the jungle and the only thing that is worshipped is money, that is so true, and so sad. No emotions, no feelings, just earn money and die, and nothing in between, a soulless culture. In the absence of the rule of law, "law of the jungle" will prevail, and no compassion or emotion will be displayed, as that is seen as weakness, again good for ex cityboys/weasel type foreigners who only care about dollars.

, especially Chinese women. What about love/communication, sex, friendship, loyalty, reliability? I am sick of trying to weed out the decent five per cent.

Me too, I am sure there are good, honest girls, but where are they?

Don't believe the harmonious society spiel, it is only harmonious as long as the FDI is flowing, and money is in pockets,and baijiu is being swilled, and food is being eaten, once all that ends, it won't be so harmonious, and there are signs growth is slowing and the bubble could burst. I wouldn't want to be there as the foreigner scapegoat once that happens!!
