Yingwen Laoshi:
I wanted to send you a private message, but there was no e-mail address. Yes, I agree with your ideas and sentiments completely!

As someone with three years' experience working for English training schools in China, I know first-hand that my colleagues "of color" (i.e. black or some other non-Caucasian) are usually offered lower salaries, often for the very excuses you mentioned ("The students can't understand your speaking so well," etc.).

As for my issue with the posting's title, yes, I understood it was a typo for "need," but I was trying to make a point (obviously unsuccessfully) that they are SO desperate for a teacher that they didn't take time to correct the mistake. The typist was obviously in such "need" (or crisis, or "beed" -- is that short for "need black person"?) are they are typing the posting very fast. To me, this was just one more example of why the situation seems problem-plagued.

Thanks again for your thoughts. After my three years here, and your four, it seems we have very similar impressions about what might be happeningin that situation.

What do other FTs out there think???
