It seems many foreigners are finding it hard to find a good Chinese woman. A few guys have turned in their advice on what to do.
My advice applies to both men and women foreigners:

1) Never buy him or her a gift for the first 3-6 months that you meet. You can pay for a few cheap dates, but no more. This way you will discard the gold-diggers/gigolo types.
Have your person of interest plan/pay some dates themselves. I have tried this with the Chinese woman I have dated, and I found a keeper now.
2) Tell that person that you have no plans of leaving China- ever. This gets rid of those looking for a green card. It does not work for me since I am not an American, but with this I tell them
that I am not an escape boat anywhere.
