I did explain that it is not my training centre and that my involvement would be minimal. This is a wise decision. I went to the PSB yesterday and after 40 minutes got a receipt for a new residence permit. The permit will be processed within a week. In discussing things with the officer-in-charge he made it quite clear that I could not "follow my profession" (teacher) without an FEC." I told him that it was unlikely that I would sign a contract with another university as I would not be following my profession but helping my wife with her business. That was accepted.

Haha Sir Humphrey was funny. You should give instructions and advice to other married men living in China- you seemed to pick up a new residence permit with as much ease as getting top-up for your electricity.

What's yours is your wife's and what is hers is yours- that's being married. You do have a training centre.
