I too would like to express my extreme satisfaction with the company.
Firstly, I want to say that I do, in fact, agree completely with the above.

There is a massive emphasis on "keeping the parents happy" rather than focusing on the needs of the actual students. I would've thought the parents would be happy if their children showed signs of progress with the English language rather than a half-assed approach (in my opinion) that is taught there.

The school syllabus is monotonous boring. You follow the same cycle, again and again ad nasueam. I felt bored in classes, therefore I could not help but wonder how the kids must've felt. The kids didn't seem to learn a thing in my experience and can only spout things word for word from the book- eliminating free use of the language and legitimate improvement. There is no emphasis on grammar or any attempt at writing skills- something important if you want to progress with a language.

Effectively, your creativity and freedom of choice in your classes is taken from you; for example, you are written up by a head TA (or sometimes reported by your own TA) if you deviate from the set lesson plan. You are encouraged (forced) to be the same as every other teacher and all individuality is taken from you. You are further told to change whatever aspects of class your classes the parents tell you (despite knowing NOTHING about teaching themselves).

Suzhou is a wonderful place. It's beautiful and quiet and I do consider myself lucky for coming to the city. I however do implore you to check out your options before coming- and that goes for any job in China!

Some people actually enjoy the pain, wow. Not sure if that was a spelling mistake or if you are really just an educational masochist, lol.
