Hi David Evans, I see there's a lot of people trying to provide helpful information but failing to answer your question about Shane English School, YUXI.
I worked at Shane Yuxi for a year, from 2012-2013 (and would still be there now if it wasn't for circumstances out of my control at home).

At first, I was also skeptical because of all the negative comments I read online. Before I go on, please let me reassure you that everything I read online before coming about Shane is NOT true about the Yuxi school.

The school was opened, and is still run by the same owner and academic manager that were there 6 years ago. Many of the teachers renew their contracts for a second, and even third year, which in itself shows that they're happy there.

Teachers are treated very well and are supported throughout their contracts with anything they need, whether it's inside or outside of the classroom.
The work/life balance whilst working for Shane Yuxi is great, with teachers expected to be in just for their classes (no hidden office hours).

Finally, I know it's off topic and not related to the school itself, but Yuxi is a great place to live, with warm weather for 10 months of the year.
